The “classic” polygenic trait, over 70% heritable, it was as recently as 2007 that the first common, replicable genetic associations were identified. More than 250,000 individuals, 697 variants and 424 loci later, the work of the GIANT consortium has resulted in a fascinating picture of the biology of human growth.
