Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity, growth & reproductive ageing genetics

We are a multidisciplinary team of scientists at the University of Exeter Medical School. There are two broad aims to our research i) to identify the genetic variation involved in common human diseases and traits including type 2 diabetes, obesity, growth, (including fetal growth). Members of the team also have interests in female reproductive lifespan including age at Menopause; ii) to use human genetics to help understand the biology of disease. Approaches include Mendelian Randomization, recruit-by-genotype studies with the help of the Exeter 10,000 research volunteers, and the use of gene scores to help dissect disease heterogeneity, such as in diabetes and obesity.
